How did you get into the construction industry?
I got into the construction industry through my father Jim. He didn’t like the idea of me sitting around while I was not playing/traveling for club lacrosse in high school and on break from college so he got me in as a Laborer, and I would work during summer and winter breaks for Chesapeake (mainly on Jim’s jobs). I graduated college and David Ginsberg offered me the opportunity to become an Assistant Superintendent while I was studying for the LSATs and after discussing with my father, I didn’t want to pass up on the opportunity, so I accepted. While still taking the LSAT’s, I ultimately realized how much I do like construction and at the time, being an Assistant Super.
What do you like most about being a Superintendent?
What I like most about being a Superintendent is the interactions/relationships that come with meeting all kinds of people over the course of the project. From ownership to project teams, to subcontractors, there is always something new that you can learn by interacting with everyone.
What is your favorite project you have worked on?
My favorite project to have worked on would be the Shoppes at Apple Green project. This was the first project I was assigned to as an Assistant Super and I couldn’t have asked for a better project team to have been apart of. I mean I can’t thank the guy enough, but Ray Patrick really helped me and my professional growth. From taking the time in the early mornings going over shop drawings to walking around site answering my questions. He really helped me learn and, to this day, has always been someone I can call if I get stuck or need to clarify something.
What is your favorite thing about working at Chesapeake?
My favorite thing about working for Chesapeake would be the people. Everyone who I have encountered at Chesapeake have been great to work with and are always willing to help.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?
When I am not at work I enjoy hunting, fishing, crabbing, golf, and playing lacrosse.
