Mass Timber

January 9, 2024 | By Chesapeake Contracting Group | Industry Highlight

40Ten stands as a groundbreaking development in Baltimore, MD, pioneering the use of mass timber. The structure boasts a unique timber composition, featuring Dowel Laminated Timber (DLT) floor and roof panels supported by a glulam post and beam framework. The DLT panels showcase an architectural kerf cut profile on the exposed underside, creating a distinctive shadow reveal on each board.

At the core of 40Ten’s design is the DLT structure, serving as the focal point. The robust grid formed by the mass timber not only influenced the overall design but also seamlessly extends from the interior to the exterior, creating a compelling element for the main entrance.

With over 45 years of leadership and building experience, we confidently take unique challenges head on. Want to learn more about Baltimore’s first mass timber office building? Click here, https://www.ccgmd.com/project/40ten/
