How did you get into the construction industry?

Payroll processing and benefits administration crosses all kinds of industries, and my focus has always been on who I work for, not necessarily the type of industry. Company Culture is key to finding a job that I enjoy. I struck gold when I found Chesapeake was searching for a Payroll Clerk at the time the country club I had been working for was closing its doors.

What do you like most about being the Benefits/Payroll Manager?

The thing I like most about being the Benefits and Payroll Manager is that what I do directly impacts every associate and their family. I strive to ensure that they never have to worry about an incorrect paycheck, so they can focus on what’s important to them. I also love getting to know our associates and their families and helping them make the best benefits decisions for their unique circumstances.

During your 20+ years at Chesapeake, what has been the highlight of your experience?

Hands down, getting to work with such an amazing group of people every day is the best part of my job. The family feel of the company is what attracted me over 20 years ago, and it still exists today. It is easy to see that managers truly care about the growth and well-being of their teams, and I treasure the friendships I’ve made over the years.

Are you a part of any committees at Chesapeake? Which ones, and what makes them enjoyable for you?

Chesapeake’s Wellness Committee. I enjoy collaborating with so many other like-minded individuals to create fun and engaging ways to improve and maintain one’s health and well-being. I firmly believe that we are most productive when we feel good – mentally, physically, and emotionally.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?

When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending as much time as possible outdoors: gardening, landscaping, and attending all kinds of festivals (Celtic, Renaissance, Craft, etc). In the winter months, I enjoy working on renovation projects around the house. In short, I enjoy keeping active!
