Will Stann

June 25, 2024 | By Chesapeake Contracting Group | Captains of Chesapeake

Will Stann’s professional journey commenced over 20 years ago after graduating from the Virginia Military Institute with a degree in Civil Engineering. His background as an Infantry Officer in the Marine Corps laid the foundation for a transition from an upper-level engineer to a lower-level manager, ascending through the ranks at various companies.

Will’s leadership and management skills were a natural fit within the construction industry. Over the years, he has ascended through the management ranks, gaining experience in diverse markets such as healthcare, schools, embassies, military, industrial, commercial, religious, and retail. His portfolio encompasses approximately 100 projects, contributing to the placement of nearly $1 billion worth of work.

Notably, Will’s expertise shines in healthcare and education projects, ranging from complex hospital renovations to constructing cutting-edge cancer treatment centers. His dedication to serving clients over the long term and becoming an integral part of their teams underscores his commitment to providing high-value services.

Will’s management style is distinctive, characterized by an emphasis on building highly skilled teams and adopting a “Fighter Leader” approach. This strategic involvement ensures swift and economical issue resolution when obstacles arise.

Beyond the construction site, Will finds joy in his family – his wife and four children. He dedicates time to volunteering and enjoys teaching leadership and management fundamentals to youth organizations, showcasing a commitment to making a positive impact beyond the professional realm.

A constant advocate for growth, Will challenges himself daily to enhance his approach for the betterment of his team and Chesapeake. His commitment to self-evaluation, seeking feedback, and sharing knowledge and resources exemplifies a passion for continuous improvement.

For Will, the most rewarding aspect of working at Chesapeake lies in the emphasis on relationships. As a firm believer in the company’s core values – Relentless, Respectful, Responsible, Relationships, and Reputation – Will cherishes the strong and trusting connections formed through Chesapeake’s values-oriented approach.

We’re excited to announce that we’ll be featuring a member of our leadership team bi-monthly. Be sure to check back regularly as we add more profiles to our ‘Captains of Chesapeake’ series, each contributing to our success and embodying the spirit of construction excellence.
