45 Years of Excellence in Tilt-Up Construction
As we continue to celebrate our 45th year in business, we take immense pride in our extensive experience and expertise in Tilt-Up construction. Over the decades, this method has not only grown exponentially but has continually adapted to meet the evolving needs of modern construction practices.
Concrete is the ultimate building material – it is fluid, strong, durable, and can be incorporated into a structure. Tilt-Up systems are celebrated for their aesthetics, durability, and energy-efficiency. Once exclusive to big-box warehouse space, Tilt-Up construction is now viewed as a solution for office and retail buildings, recreation centers, schools and more. Here’s a closer look at the key advantages and innovations associated with Tilt-Up construction that we’ve championed over the years:
Advantages and innovations
Aesthetics: Minimalist and boxy manufacturing and distribution facilities were once the staple for Tilt-Up. Today, many new finish options are available – from paints and stains to cast-in-products like thin brick and thin block. With improved technology, tall walls can be achieved and there are less limitations to the size and shape of doors and windows. This allows architects to design Tilt-Up buildings to the owner’s wishes, using any style or form of architecture.
Schedule: For decades, the tilt-up concrete walls have given design and construction teams control over the project’s schedule. Construction starts sooner since all materials, such as concrete, reinforcement and most framing supplies, are readily available. The general contractor has more control over the project since there is less dependency on subcontractors and suppliers.
Value: Tilt-Up solutions are traditionally more cost-effective than other systems. Shorter construction schedules save money by reducing construction financing costs and general conditions. This method also proves to save money in long-term building expenses, such as maintenance and energy costs.
Durability & Sustainability: Tilt-Up structures offer very low maintenance and solid protection against outside forces. They’re also energy efficient. Insulation can be applied on either side or in between the concrete panels, which stores energy and regulates temperature inside. Concrete buildings systems are also fire and earthquake resistant.
Since the design of Tilt-Up panels is constantly improving, developing relationships with qualified, experienced structural engineers, architects, and contractors is extremely important. A strong project team, coupled with the benefits of Tilt-Up construction, will make for a very successful project.
At Chesapeake Contracting Group, our commitment to excellence in Tilt-Up construction is underscored by our track record of success. Having constructed millions of square feet using this method, we’ve garnered recognition, including four national Tilt-Up Achievement Awards from the Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA).
As we commemorate 45 years of innovation and leadership in the construction industry, we remain dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with Tilt-Up construction. Whether it’s enhancing aesthetics, optimizing schedules, maximizing value, or prioritizing durability and sustainability, Chesapeake Contracting Group continues to set the standard for excellence in Tilt-Up construction.
