Meet Michael Wildey, Vice President.

Michael's construction journey began in high school when he helped a neighbor build a house in Monkton, MD. This hands-on experience ignited his passion for the industry, leading him to work in a millwork shop and a firm specializing in restoring historic homes in Baltimore during college. After earning his Finance degree, Michael started as a Project Accountant with The Beck Group. His career path took him through various roles, including Cost Engineer and Manager of Cost Engineering for the Mid-Atlantic Region at Clark Construction. In 1998, Michael transitioned to operations, becoming a Project Manager for Commercial Air, and later joining CBG Building Company, where he oversaw significant projects, including military housing and multifamily construction.

With a robust background in accounting, Michael brings a unique perspective to his role. His deep understanding of project financials, from revenue recognition to cost estimation, allows him to navigate financial challenges. This expertise benefits our clients, ensuring projects are profitable and efficiently managed.

Michael has extensive experience in the multi-family sector, having constructed over 3,700 units totaling more than $600 million. His long-standing presence in the Northern VA, DC, and Maryland market has fostered strong relationships with subcontractors and a keen understanding of local jurisdictional requirements, adding value to our clients looking to build multi-family in this challenging market.

Michael's management style is visionary and collaborative. He inspires his team with a long-term vision and fosters a culture of innovation and teamwork. Believing in the power of collective brainstorming, Michael encourages his teams to look at the bigger picture and develop creative solutions that benefit the project and its stakeholders.

Adopting the Kaizen philosophy of continuous improvement, Michael is committed to personal and professional development. He is an avid reader and actively seeks learning opportunities to enhance his skills and knowledge. Books like "The Ride of a Lifetime" by Robert Iger and "The Untethered Soul" by Michael Singer have profoundly influenced Michael's career. Outside work, he enjoys golfing, traveling, fitness, and spending quality time with family and friends.

For Michael, the most rewarding aspect of working at Chesapeake is supporting the growth of associates and the company. He aligns strongly with Chesapeake's core value of being Relentless, constantly pursuing success. He is particularly passionate about "The Blueprint," an initiative that outlines Chesapeake’s vision and commitment to growth, ensuring continuous improvement in all we do.
